Why fly with a club

Affordable access, real camaraderie

A flying club spreads the fixed cost of leasing, hangaring, and insuring an aircraft across all members — so you get convenient, predictable access at a fraction of the cost, and you’re never flying alone.

01

Affordable access

One $150/hr wet rate covers fuel, oil, and maintenance. Flat monthly dues keep fixed costs predictable and shared evenly among members.

02

Real camaraderie

Fly-ins, maintenance days, cookouts, and safety meetings. Members mentor members — from student pilots to seasoned CFIs.

03

Safety first

Proficiency standards, instructor checkouts, and a club safety culture built around the FAA WINGS program keep everyone sharp.

Who we are

A member-owned club, not a flight school

River City Flying Club Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation formed in the State of Illinois. We exist for one reason: the shared enjoyment of flying among our members.

We’re not a commercial operator. Every member has a voice in how the club runs and a shared responsibility to fly safely and care for the club’s leased aircraft and equipment.

  • Personal flying, recurrent training, and cross-country travel
  • Member CFIs available for checkouts and flight reviews
  • Online scheduling, first-come first-served
  • Group fly-ins, maintenance days, and social events

Our mission

“To promote the pleasure, recreation, and fellowship of our members through the shared enjoyment of aviation — providing safe, affordable, well-maintained aircraft for personal use.”

— RCFC BYLAWS, ARTICLE II
